The BESTEST app

So simple but complete. You have both the music and the timer for doing Interval training. Get this right away, even the price is a steal for such a handy application.

Great App for spinning!

This is exactly what Ive been looking for for spinning and running intervals. Love that you can use your own music library to create the fast and slow playlists. Worth every penny!

Good but...

There needs to be longer session time and longer interval time to make this a 5 star application. The session time is max 30 min, and the interval time is max 60 seconds.

Please add podcast support!

Like a previous review states, the app is excellent, except that it doesnt see any podcasts in my iPhone, and I have many. Please fix this, and this app will get 5 stars!

UPDATED - Great Start but needs a few things

UPDATED after more use - simple and straight forward – I like it a lot. Some suggestions – 1 After using it a couple of times now I have realized the session length includes the warmup and cooldown - This is very confusing and made for a very short workout the second time out. The session length should include only the fast/slow intervals since that is the amount of time people are trying to calculate for their invervals. Also it would require doing the albiet simple math in your head to chang the session lenght if you want to adjust the length of you warmup and cooldown. 2 There should be an option for warning beeps say 2-3 seconds before the end of a fast or slow cycle. It seems too jarring wondering when the fast interval will hit. 3 The warm-up options are far too limited, I would want a much longer warm-up especially now that winter is coming. Many other reviews want more options for making up the intervals as well. Overall more customization is desired. 4 There is no counter or progress bar for the number of intervals you have done/will do in the workout. 5 When you un-pause the workout the playlist jumps to the next song instead of picking up where it left off which is annoying. Also there is no reason to switch songs from the warmup to the first slow interval.

Great interval training app (and best looking)

Looks w the functionaility to boot. Have been using this over a month now and its perfect for someone who wants a flexible yet simple to use interval timer.

Great Interval Training App

I love this app. Im slowly being able to use my iPhone in place of many other separate gadgets. Id like to be able to choose shorter session lengths (4 min) for Tabata workouts. An interval counter would be a plus as well. Great product overall.

Incredible Interval Training Assistant...

I have been into Interval training for about 2 years now, and ITGO has definately made that easier and more successful.. ( I cant count well after a little exercise). I love the ability to specify interval ratio. I only wish warmup time could be increased a little ( I like 5 minutes) as well as winding down time, and interval lengths could be up to 120 seconds. Thanks for the app. It Rocks!

Horrible

Its horrible to be in the middle of an interval session and have the app break. It only worked 50% of the time. Restarting takes several annoying clicks. Hated it.

Great Updates!

Stronger, Faster, Longer.. well not quite but this App seems to get better with each update. Its already the best interval trainer in the AppStore IMO but with these new features its even more flexible. I mean strictly speaking Interval Training is only meant to be for up to 30 minutes but being able to set the session to 90 minutes is obviously something that people wanted judging by the comments. And of course its the first interval training App on the iPhone iPod Touch ever to have dual playlists. Its really cool to have podcast capability now as well.. Simply the Best...

still not quite there

Appnoose should be credited for quickly adding podcast functionality after earlier complaints. But the integration seems somewhat problematic; often, when ITGO returns to my slow playlist (i.e., my podcasts), it will start the podcast over again. And there seems to be no way to fast forward back to the place I was at. Additionally, if I load a podcast Ive already started outside the app, ITGO doesnt recognize this and starts it from the beginning. Relatedly, any listening I do in ITGO is not recognized by the built-in iPod app later. Appnoose has also increased the maximum workout length; kudos on that! but the "dial" UI (used to set the time) is maddeningly difficult to set accurately. Another suggestion; allow for some warning that an interval change is coming. Its kind of terrifying to wait for a shouted FAST! in the midst of your calm podcast. Even when I use the beeps sound option, the change comes too suddenly. How about a three... two... one... GO! beep option (like in the old Pole Position game)?

Very Best of the Bunch

I bought this app as I desperately wanted to get into shape. Ive had it for a while and can testify that its awesome. Ive looked at some of the other interval apps and this one definitely looked like the best of the bunch. I can confirm that it really is as slick as it looks. Really nice job by Appnoose. Thanks

good but needs more variables in the ratio

needs more variation in the ratios. I run 4 walk 1 and theres no way for this to do that. I als think it whould return to the prior fast or slow song so you can actually hear a whold song...Other than that its good. You definitely have to restart your iphone to keep it from crashing though!

slick interface however could use some added depth

this program has one of the best interfaces of timer apps out there - slick! if you simply need an interval timer it will do, however i would strongly encourage itgo to inorporate saved saettings so one can go back in a tap to there favorite routines it would also be nice to see more control of the time, and multiple interval sessions able to be scheduled in sequence with more alarm and sound options - this would then turn it into a true meditation and visual presentation/keynote tool keep us psoted itgo!

buggish like crazy!

on iPhone 3G buggish like crazy! Would close the app each time it changed interval. Can you imagine? You cant basically run and get awfully annoyed. It would only work w/o music -then, price no worth. Then it started to freeze and being very slow to start after pressing "start". Meanwhile you freeze there... Also, tapping v sensitive, which would make the whole workout impossible ...I had big hopes. In theory its perfect.

Pretty but basic

Once you get past the neat interface and music control options, this is really pretty basic. No option for multiple intervals like steady-high-rest and cant set a high intensity interval longer than a minute ultra timer is a better option if you need those features and can live with a more basic interface.

Incredibly Awesome Interval Timer

I am very impressed with this apps design and features. Its incredibly user-friendly and surpasses most interval apps out there. I like how one is able to change the interval ratios quickly. The app allows one to control several music-related functions and has many audio options for cues. The one glaring ommision, is that there is no indication, at least aurally, when the timer ends. There is a vibration mode, but since I have an ipod touch, Im unable to avail myself of this. Since I am not in physical contact with my device when exercising(I have it hooked up to my stereo), I have no way of knowing that Im done with the workout, at least until I realize(eventually) that there are no more audio cues. Luckily, the creator has advised me that he will be coming out with an update that addresses this and other user suggestions. I would also like to see different interval ratios like 1:4 1:5 etc. A tabata function would be nice as well. I cant wait for the updates, which Im sure will make this great app even greater.

1st time app has messed up iPod

Disappointed that app only lets you alternate longer intervals with short 60 sec max break. Not good if you want to do a steady state build-up longer than 60 sec (eg 4 min endurance) with a race period of anywhere from 2 min to something longer. Can only flip to 60 sec max from other period. But that doesnt matter, this app froze my touch. I have tons of apps & lots of storage & memory left on 32 gb touch. Screen froze. Holding down top button did nothing. Deleted app.

crashy on iPhone 3G

Crashes often on the 3G. Perhaps it performs better on 3GS. As you can imagine, very frustrating when youre in the middle of a workout and the program crashes. When it works, its great. Also, the splash screen and directions that appears every time you open the app gets annoying. I already know how to use the app, just give me the controls - no need for a splash screen.

Dont Bother With the Podcast Option

The whole reason I bought this app was so that I could switch to music from podcasts for the fast sessions, but as a previous commenter mentioned, 9/10 times it *restarts* the podcast I was listening to from the beginning, making it basically worthless (and also making for a frustrating treadmill session.) There has to be a way to get it to "remember" where you are in your podcast listening both within a session and for future sessions (most people dont just listen to part of a podcast.) In addition: - The "turning off sleep" function only works about 1/5 of the time, and of course you dont know it until youre already working out. - As mentioned by another commenter, there should be a countdown before the guy yells FAST! and makes you jump out of your skin. This app is ingenious, I just wish it worked the way it was supposed to. I gave it three stars because for people who just want to listen to music, its probably fine.
